Inpatient Rehabilitation Center RehabilitationServices

The RehabCare Center at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center is a hospital-based, comprehensive physical and cognitive rehabilitation program dedicated to treating individuals who have experienced a functional decline due to a disabling injury or illness.

Our team approach to treating patients helps us to further our goal of providing an optimum level of recovery while providing cost-effective outcomes for each patient. Referrals and admission referrals are accepted from physicians, social workers, rehabilitation nurses, counselors, patients and their families. Prior to admission, prospective patients are given a free evaluation to determine their appropriateness for our program. The RehabCare medical director is responsible for authorizing a patient’s admission to the program.

The following guidelines may be applied to determine the appropriateness of the patient’s admission:

  • The patient has a potential to improve function or achieve independence.
  • The patient is medically stable.
  • The patient and the patient’s family are willing to participate with the team in the rehabilitation program.
  • The patient can tolerate and benefit from a minimum of three hours of therapeutic services per day, at least five days a week.
  • The patient has an identified discharge placement.
  • The patient required 24-hour rehabilitation nursing care.
  • The patient has not previously been admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation program for the same diagnosis, unless functional status has significantly changes.
